FAQs - Porters Peak, Nova Scotia. Glamping Getaway.
Cellular & Wifi
Cellular reception isn’t the strongest in this little corner of the countryside. Depending on your service provider you may not be well connected with the outside world during your stay at Porters Peak (we like to think of it as a digital detox). Summer 2023 we’ll have limited wifi available by our Adventure Concierge at the Peak.
AC & Heating
Cabins: As our units are built for year-long weather, we have a propane heater to keep you nice and toasty in the winter. In the summer, they are not cooled; however, there are several windows for air flow to pass through.
Tents: Our tents are equipped with wood stoves to keep you warm under the canvas all winter long. In the summer, our tents are designed with windows and screened doors to allow the breeze filter through.
Hot Water
We currently do not offer running water in our tents or cabins.
Pet Guidelines
Every cabin is a pet friendly cabin. Nova Scotia, let us meet your furry friends!
To help make your getaway enjoyable for everyone, there are a few things that we ask:
Please…
A maximum of two pets per room will be permitted.
We suggest that you bring your own pet bedding, clean up towels, food and water bowls and poop bags. Please do not use the linen for your pet.
Clean up after your dog - where possible use the ‘stick and flick’ method, flicking the poo with a stick away from paths and places where it might get stepped in or children may play. If you prefer to pick it up with a poo bag, then please ensure it is biodegradable.
Keep your dogs under strict control (on a leash if necessary) at all times around the grounds, the lake, and on the trails.
Be respectful and aware that barking, whimpering or any other noise can be disturbing to other paying guests.
Don’t leave your dog unattended inside a vehicle or inside the accommodations at any time.
Please bring your own dog towels to clean them from any mud before entering the cabin, tent or dome.
You are financially responsible for any damages caused by your pet and or any excessive cleaning charges that may be required.

If it Rains/Snows
Curl up with a good book, play some board games or fill in a coloring book from one of our yurts. Nova Scotia weather is charming, whether it's raining or sunny.
Bugs
Yes. We have a “you will see bugs or your money back guarantee.” Though we do our very best to un-invite them, you could see ants, spiders, ticks, and unidentified crawlies. After all, this is the great outdoors. If the idea of running into some spiders is going to make you “bug out”, then this experience may not be for you. We can not give refunds based on whether or not these guys crash the party.
Camp Chairs
There is no need to bring camp chairs for the fire as we will have seating. However, if you want chairs to bring near the water, then you must bring your own.
Fireworks
Out of respect for other guests, pets and safety in general, we have a strict no fireworks policy. We take fire safety very seriously. Your group will be asked to immediately vacate the premises without a refund if any of these items are found to be used during your stay. Leave them at home!
Minimum Stay
Yes. This year we have a 2-night minimum stay during our summer months and selected weekends throughout the year.
On-Site Store
Launching in Spring 2023, we will have a small onsite store where you can purchase Porters Peak swag, cooking ingredients and other goods.
Pitching Additional Tents
No, we do not allow personal tents on the property.
Quiet Times
Moderate music, small bluetooth speakers, guitars, ukuleles, and campfire sing-alongs are all acceptable during the day. However, please be mindful and respectful of other guests who do not wish to listen to loud music, and want to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Please keep in mind that quiet hours are from 10:00pm - 8:00am daily.
